Established in 1998, Mihikatha Environmental Organization (MEO) is driven by a vision of fostering a more prosperous society for women through the enhancement of economic, social, and cultural facets. Our mission is to actively contribute to the realization of this vision. Central to our efforts is the steadfast commitment to addressing the needs of migrant women from low-income backgrounds, advocating for the rights of women in fisheries communities, and safeguarding the rights of migrant laborers. Furthermore, we are deeply engaged in environmental conservation endeavors, particularly focused on reforestation and mangrove cultivation along the coastal areas of the Puttalam district in the North Western province of Sri Lanka.
MEO has collaborated with ACTFORM to work on protecting the rights of migrant workers. This partnership highlights a multidisciplinary approach, recognizing that the well-being of migrant workers is intrinsically linked to broader social and environmental factors.
